Promoting Luxembourg’s cultural and economic influence
Luxembourg, 16 October 2025 – Over the past six months, throughout the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Cargolux supported GIE Luxembourg @ Expo 2025 Osaka Team to promote Luxembourg’s economic and cultural standing on the international stage.
Delivering Luxembourg to the world
As a long-standing player in the Grand-Duchy’s logistics landscape, Cargolux is proud to have leveraged its expertise to provide free air transport for various items showcasing Luxembourg’s unique identity. These artefacts, displayed in the striking Luxembourg Pavilion, included different forms of artwork, and a “Keelebunn” - the traditional Luxembourgish nine-pin bowling alley.
The Pavilion – designed on the theme “Doki Doki – The Luxembourg Heartbeat” - showcased the country’s entrepreneurial spirit, multicultural society, and gastronomic traditions. Digital displays featuring residents at work, highlighted the diversity of the population and various professional paths it can offer. One of Cargolux’s aircraft mechanics had the honor of taking part in this initiative.
“The Expo 2025 in Osaka is a prominent international event and the occasion to connect nations and showcase their unique contributions to the global landscape. The deep economic bond between Luxembourg and Japan offers a solid basis on which Luxembourg-based organizations’ can expand their presence in the region. We are pleased to have played a part in this success”, says Richard Forson, President & CEO of Cargolux.
Empowering collaboration
As the Expo 2025 on Japanese soil draws to a close, Cargolux will provide free transport back to Luxembourg for the Keelebunn’s machinery. For this flight, Cargolux has purchased Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in Tokyo to compensate for the CO2 emissions related to the elements of the pavilion on the flight back to Luxembourg.
“Cargolux’s support has enabled us to bring to the world the very best of what Luxembourg has to offer. Their expertise and know-how in air transportation significantly contributed to the successful organization of our Pavilion. We are proud of this collaboration which demonstrated the unique capacity of one of Luxembourg’s champions,” says André Hansen, Commissioner General of the Luxembourg Pavilion.
This half year of close collaboration with GIE Luxembourg @ Expo 2025 Osaka has demonstrated the importance of working closely with local partners to grow a global footprint. The international exposure garnered during the Expo 2025 in Osaka, for both Cargolux and the Grand-Duchy, will play a key role in worldwide recognition. Cargolux looks forward to continuing supporting such events in the future.
