Cargolux adds Santiago de Chile to its global network

Luxembourg, 17 June 2019 – On June 14th, Cargolux Airlines returned to Santiago de Chile on a re-designed South American routing. The destination which been reinstated in the airline’s expanding global network, offers new and interesting opportunities for development in the Latin American market.

The weekly connection serving Santiago will be part of an extensive South American routing that includes 4 other destinations in the Area. The flight will be routed Luxembourg-Viracopos-Santiago de Chile-Quito-Bogota-Aguadilla before returning to the company’s home base in Luxembourg via Amsterdam.

This development is welcomed by Pier Curci, Cargolux’s Vice-President of the Americas: “The addition of Santiago to the network further strengthens Cargolux’s position as a flourishing player on the South American market. It is also a testament to the importance of the region in global trade lanes, especially when it comes to perishables such as fruit and flowers.”

Over the years, Santiago has increasingly become a gateway for European products destined for the Latin American market. The market demand is especially solid for sensitive equipment and highly specialized commodities such as machinery, spare parts, pharma, building material, and electronics.

Returning to Santiago de Chile contributes to enhancing Cargolux’s vast service offering in the region. The scheduled all-cargo flights offer regular connections between South America and Europe, with direct links to Amsterdam and Luxembourg, as well as extensive road feeder services to additional European destinations.
