Selection process

Application process

All open positions are available on our website, where you can easily browse current opportunities. After completing a simple registration process, you will be guided to fill out the online application form.
You can then upload all required supporting documents - such as your curriculum vitae (CV), flight‑hours record, pilot license, medical certificate, etc.. This helps us gain a complete picture of your background and ensures your application is reviewed thoroughly and fairly.

Pre-selection

During the pre-selection phase, your applications are thoroughly reviewed to ensure they are complete and meet the published requirements for the position. We take this opportunity to understand how closely your profile aligns with the specific role you have applied for.

If you meet the criteria at this stage, you will be invited to take part in our in‑house pilot selection process. This process is structured around several pass/fail steps designed to provide each candidate with a fair and consistent assessment.

Pilot Aptitude Tests

Our psychometric assessments are specifically tailored for Cargolux and developed by an experienced aviation psychologist to ensure a fair and meaningful evaluation. Before attending the assessment at our headquarters in Luxembourg, you will complete a mandatory online preparation phase provided by our cooperation partner.

Cargolux has no access to your preparation results; however, you will receive feedback on your training progress directly from the provider. This structure is intended to give you the best possible preparation for the assessment.

Should your first attempt not be successful, a retest may be offered. Feedback from the Human Factors Manager is available on an optional basis to support your continued development.

Upon completing the assessment, you will receive your test results directly from the provider. This ensures full transparency, and you retain ownership of your results.

Assessment center

The first step is a comprehensive briefing that walks you through the schedule, expectations, and the structure of the assessment. Throughout the session, you will take part in group exercises and role‑play activities giving  you the opportunity to demonstrate your strengths in a dynamic setting.

Members of the selection board will observe these exercises to gain insight into your interpersonal skills, teamwork, communication style, and overall suitability for the role. Our aim is to create an environment where you can show us who you are as a professional and as a future colleague.

Simulator screening

The simulator screening gives you the opportunity to demonstrate your operational abilities in a realistic and supportive environment. You will receive preparation materials in advance for both the B747‑8F and B747‑400F simulators, allowing you to familiarize yourself with the procedures and be well‑prepared for the session.

The screening consists of:

A one‑hour briefing, during which the instructor will walk you through the session structure and expectations.
Approximately 45 minutes of simulator flying, giving you the chance to apply your skills in various scenarios.

This step is designed to evaluate your:

Flying skills
Technical knowledge
Adaptability
CRM skills

Our aim is to provide a clear and transparent process that enables you to showcase your strengths while ensuring you are supported every step of the way.

Company interview

In the final stage of the selection process, you will meet with our selection board, which comprises experienced flight crew members as well as representatives from the Human Factors and Recruitment departments. This is your opportunity to present your professional background, share insights into your career development, and explain your motivation for joining Cargolux.

Attention will be given to your interpersonal competencies and how they align with our company culture.
You will be informed of the selection board’s decision immediately after the interview. If your profile aligns with our expectations, you will receive feedback, as this stage is considered the first step of your journey within our company.

If your profile does not align with our requirements, you will be offered the opportunity to receive comprehensive feedback covering all stages of the assessment process. This voluntary step reflects our appreciation of the interest you showed in Cargolux and our commitment to support individual professional development
