Cargolux adds Shenzhen to its global network

Cargolux is pleased to announce the launch of a new frequency to Shenzhen, China. The weekly frequency is routed Luxembourg-Bangkok-Shenzhen before returning westbound to Luxembourg via Bangkok with an additional stopover in Budapest. Shenzhen (SZX) is Cargolux’s 6th destination in mainland China, bolstering the company’s position as a leading provider of air cargo services in the region.

LX-VCF welcomed home to Luxembourg

On Thursday, Cargolux welcomed home its freighter LX-VCF that now sports a surgical facemask on its iconic nose as it received a brand-new paint job following a scheduled maintenance check in Taipei.

By adding the tagline “not without my mask” to the special livery, the airline embraces the Luxembourg government’s campaign to promote the use of face masks in the current environment, an initiative that is supported both by the Grand-Duchy and its national cargo carrier. To mark the occasion, Cargolux was honored to receive the visit of Luxembourg’s Prime Minister Xavier Bettel and Deputy Prime Minister François Bausch at the company’s headquarters to view the aircraft. They also took the time to talk to employees and express their gratitude for the tireless work they achieved during this challenging period.

Cargolux flies aid to Beirut

Cargolux has provided Free of Charge (FOC) transport for medical relief material destined to medical personnel in Beirut, Lebanon, following the explosion that devasted the city earlier this month. The shipment, organized in cooperation with Fedex, was flown from Memphis to Luxembourg on Sunday 23rd August and boarded a Cargolux freighter bound for the Middle East on Monday 24th August. The flight carried a total of 62 tons of emergency supplies to the Lebanese capital.

Cargolux welcomes retro-branded aircraft

One of Cargolux’s 747-400ERF freighters, LX-NCL, will be welcomed home to Luxembourg today sporting a brand-new retro livery. The aircraft is expected to land in the Grand Duchy at 16:45 local time. Its unique design celebrates the airline’s 50 years of existence; combining a vintage visual with the iconic lines of the jumbo jet. This duality perfectly depicts Cargolux; rooted in its pioneering history while remaining resolutely geared towards the future.

Cargolux and Unilode further extend partnership

Cargolux Airlines International and Unilode Aviation Solutions are proud to announce they have further extended their partnership. This new agreement broadens the scope of cooperation to ensure air cargo customers have access to premium transport and handling solutions to match their requirements.

In addition to the current provision of ULDs and related repair and maintenance services, Unilode and Cargolux are now going one step further in the digitalization process. After equipping its units with Bluetooth tracking tags, Unilode is also installing Bluetooth readers at all warehouses operated by its customers.

Cargolux financial results for 2019

After 2 years of exceptional growth, the industry once again entered turbulent times in 2019. On the eve of its 50th anniversary, in a challenging climate marked by a global economic slowdown, overcapacity and low yields, Cargolux still managed to outperform the industry average and close the year with a profit. The Cargolux Group (Cargolux) generated a positive net result of USD 20.2 million with an EBIT margin of 5.1% - despite unfavorable and volatile market conditions - a reflection of the company’s solid business strategy. At year-end, Cargolux’ Balance Sheet reflected stable financial ratios compared to the previous year and a further improvement in its cash position versus 2018.

Cargolux celebrates 50 years of success

Today marks a remarkable milestone for Cargolux as the all-cargo carrier celebrates its 50th anniversary. Exactly half a century ago, Luxembourg’s national carrier Luxair, Iceland's national carrier Loftleiðir, the Swedish shipping company Salén and some private investors, founded Cargolux. With a single aircraft and a handful of employees, these ambitious investors created what was to become one of the world’s leading all-cargo carriers. Since its inception, Cargolux has lived up to its now famous slogan ‘You name it, we fly it’ – the embodiment of the Cargolux spirit.

Cargolux donates medical supplies to Zhengzhou

Cargolux, in coordination with the Ministry of Mobility and Public Works, will dispatch a total of 75,000 face masks and 44,000 sanitary wipes on its flight to Zhengzhou (CGO), this Saturday. These products are intended for distribution amongst the airline’s business partners in CGO as a mark of support in these challenging times.

Cargolux recognized “Best Developing Freighter Operator 2019” by Budapest airport

Cargolux is honoured to have received the “Best Developing Freighter Operator 2019” at the annual Budapest airport award ceremony. After 18 years of fruitful cooperation between BUD airport and Europe’s leading all-cargo carrier, 2019 cemented the two entities’ long-standing collaboration. Indeed, Cargolux doubled its weekly frequencies from three to six scheduled services and introduced a new direct route from Zhengzhou Airport, the carrier’s second hub in China.
