Cargolux introduces fifth Budapest flight

Luxembourg, 25 November 2004 - Only two years after the introduction of Cargolux’s Budapest service, the Luxembourg based all-cargo carrier already announces the introduction of its 5th frequency via the Hungarian capital.

While all other flights are routed from Asia to Budapest, the fifth flight, CV7944, is operated eastbound, leaving Ferihegy Airport on Thursday evening to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.

On board of CV7944 to Budapest, a variety of cargo is loaded, like flowers from Africa and South America, lobsters from Alaska, hi-tech components from Mexico and the USA, and horses from Australia, while in Budapest, the additional cargo consists of hi-tech products, machinery, and some gourmet goose liver, to name a few. On the return flight, the cargo on board mostly comprises products from Asian origins, like IT related components, telecommunications and audio equipment, machinery and textiles, as well as orchids from Thailand, and tropical fish.

Cargolux is the only carrier that offers direct B747-400 freighter services between the Hungarian capital and worldwide destinations. The fifth Cargolux service through Budapest has convinced the local airport authorities to invest in a state-of-the-art cargo facility, comprising 19,000 square metres of warehouse, plus 5,000 square metres of office space, which will be ready by mid 2006.
