| Cargolux introduces Lusaka service Luxembourg, 1 September, 2004 – In addition to Cargolux’s new services to Lagos/Nigeria and Eldoret/Kenya, the company also introduces Lusaka/Zambia, on a once-a-week basis. CV 7145 is operated every Friday, with
departure at 21.15h local, with continuation via Johannesburg and arrival
in Lusaka next day at 15.15h. On board Cargolux’s B747 freighters from Lusaka, mostly roses and various other types of summer flowers are flown to the Netherlands, with the flower season running from October through to May. In addition to flower shipments, transported on board Cargolux’s temperature controlled freighters are also exotic vegetables, mostly destined for The Netherlands and the U.K., including baby corn, mangetout peas, fine beans, runner beans, chillies, asparagus, sugar snap, okra, sweet corn, baby carrots, bobby beans, gourgettes, cape goose berries, and passion fruit. For most of those products, grown in a radius of approx. 250 km around Lusaka, the season is all year round. Handling agent in Lusaka is Zega Ltd., representing Cargolux in Zambia. Zega Ltd. offers modern handling facilities, including clearance and delivery to Cargolux clients.
