Cargolux Flies To Penang

Cargolux Airlines adds Penang in Malaysia to its worldwide route network. The weekly B747-400 freighter service starts on 11 January.

Penang is the Silicon Valley of Malaysia and the Cargolux flights carry electronics and computers from Malaysia, while materials and computer parts for the local electronics industries are shipped to Penang. Cargolux also enjoys fifth freedom rights out of Penang and offers local forwarders a fast and reliable service to Australia and New Zealand.

Cargolux had opened a sales office in Penang ten years ago. With its first direct air service to and from the city, the airline responds to demands from local shippers who offer their full support. A second weekly flight is envisaged for the near future.
