Tigers fly Cargolux to Hanoi - Transport ensures survival of endangered animals

Cargolux Airlines International S.A. has flown four tigers to Hanoi in support of an effort to ensure the survival of the endangered animals in Vietnam. The three female and one male animals belong to the species of Indochinese Tigers, known as Hổ Đông Dương in Vietnam, and only around 600 are currently alive in the wilderness of Southeast Asia. Due to decade-long conflicts, growing urbanization and expanding agriculture, their natural habit is rapidly decreasing and Indochinese tigers are officially recognized as a distinct subspecies since 1968.

The four animals that Cargolux has flown will spend their lives in the safety of Hanoi Zoo which was eager to welcome them as one of Vietnam’s national animals. Indochinese tigers are also an increasingly rare sight in zoos around the world as less than 20 are registered in captivity worldwide.
