| The Cargolux Pilot
Responsibilities
Operate the aircraft in a safe manner both on the ground and in the air,
and as directed by the company rules and procedures.
Educational background
Full secondary school education (Baccalauréat – Abitur)
Languages
Fluent English is a must
Any other language is an advantage
Skills
When a candidate enters Cargolux, he or she already has the basic skills
to fly.
Through the intensive training offered by Cargolux, the candidate will
have all of the skills necessary to operate the Boeing 747-400 in a world
wide multi-crew environment.
Initial Training
- 2 weeks ground school
Learning the aircraft systems. This is accomplished by using computer
based training
and class room instruction.
- 2 weeks fixed base simulator
This is accomplished by using the simulator for additional training in
the aircraft systems
and normal and non-normal procedures.
- 2 weeks full flight simulator
This is used to learn the flying characteristics of the airplane using
standard and non-standard procedures with emphasis on crew working together
as a team.
- 2 months line training
These are actual flights with a flight instructor. The student is introduced
to the worldwide operation of Cargolux.
Other Requirements
- Total of 2500 hours flight time of which 1000 hours on jet aircraft.
- Or total of 3000 hours flight time of which 2000 hours on high performance
turboprop or jet.
- Full JAR ATPL license with MCC qualification.
- Valid medical certificate
