Cargolux Mechanic's Apprenticeship Program
We give you a chance to become an aircraft mechanic!
Cargolux currently employs around 300 aircraft mechanics. They maintain and repair our fleet of Boeing 747 Freighters, as well as the aircraft of our maintenance customers. These mechanics are highly qualified and have undergone extensive training. Many of them were trained in Luxembourg, and obtained their internationally recognized Aircraft Maintenance License (AML) by following a Cargolux sponsored curriculum at the Lycée Technique Emile Metz, in Luxembourg City. If you meet the requirements and after having successfully completed the assessment tests, you may start an apprenticeship as aircraft mechanic with Cargolux in order to receive either an EASA Part-66 Cat. A or B1 Aircraft Maintenance License. Depending on which license you would like to get, you will enter either a one year (Cat. A) or a two year (Cat B1) training sponsored by Cargolux.
Cat. B1 AML
While the first year of this two-year program consists mainly of classroom-based studies, the apprentice's study time in their second year is divided equally between practical work at Cargolux and further classroom studies. Successful students are awarded an Aircraft Maintenance License that is recognized in all countries of the European Union as well as a Luxembourg CATP end-of-school certificate. However, 3 to 5 years of additional work experience are still necessary before the apprentice becomes a fully operational Cargolux mechanic. Career options After having obtained his qualification, further possibilities for career development are available, leading with time to the position of foreman or supervisor, as well as other technical responsibilities within the company.
Salary The salary evolution of the mechanic is determined through a collective work agreement.

The aircraft mechanic's apprenticeship program is open to both male and female students at least 18 years old holding a technicians' diploma, a CATP or have completed a 12th year at technical school with specialization in electricity or mechanics. Applicants undergo additional aptitude tests before being admitted to the course, aiming at evaluating their capacity for logical thinking, general school knowledge level and knowledge of English.
