Cargolux is proud to operate one of the most fuel-efficient and quietest long-range wide-body aircraft currently available, the Boeing 747-400F.

All our aircraft were bought new from Boeing, in order to guarantee optimal reliability and state-of-the-art technology to our customers. Cargolux does not own second-hand, converted aircraft that may have already spent a lifetime as passenger aircraft.

The excellent characteristics of our fleet also benefit the environment and the communities living around the airports where we operate: we produce less noise and emit less CO2 than many other cargo airlines operating older aircraft types.

B747-8F: Dawn of a new era
Research From autumn 2010 onwards, Cargolux will be the first airline worldwide to operate the Boeing 747-8F, the next generation of this successful aircraft. This will mark a further step-change towards environment-friendly air cargo transport, with a further 17% reduction in fuel consumption and 30% reduction of the aircraft’s noise footprint at take-off.

A rapid fleet changeover program has been planned, allowing a complete switch to the 747-8F within six to seven years.

The following animation details the technological advances that make the Boeing 747-8F a benchmark 4-engined aircraft in terms of fuel efficiency and quietness for coming decades.
